New Nike Shoe for LeBron

Tags: Nike, Basketball
For the third time in his career, LeBron James was named the NBA league MVP. In spite of his last of post season success, James continues to win the accolades of the fans, the press and his fellow players. Regardless of his success in the playoffs, there is now doubt that LeBron James' regular season play deserves each of the trophies he has won.
“Nike further salutes the three-time MVP with a special edition LEBRON 9 MVP shoe. Designed for elite performance and crafted with style, the LEBRON 9 MVP features striking Miami team colors. Gradient fades from red to black to comprise the upper with pops of yellow while details including an MVP logo on the heel and trophies printed on the sockliner mark the award. This special LEBRON 9 MVP shoe was made specifically for James, but a very limited amount will be brought to market next month.”

New Balance Shoes for the President

Tags: New Balance, Athletic

New Balance, the last company to actually make athletic shoes in the United States, created a custom pair of size 12Ds for President Obama. The morning Sentinel reports:

Now, another well-known figure will tie up the laces of a size 12D, gray New Balance pair of sneakers. If President Barack Obama could go anywhere inconspicuously, the blue stitching on the side of the sneakers declaring his name would give him away.

U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud, D-2nd District, will present the sneakers to the president this evening at a fundraiser at the Portland Museum of Art. They are made with natural pig skin, mesh and labels manufactured in the U.S.

At a tour of the shoe factory in Norridgewock on this morning, Michaud said he will give the sneakers to Obama to remind him that people in the U.S. still produce footwear. He will also urge Obama to require the military to buy American-made athletic footwear.

Michaud has introduced the “American Shoes for American Service members Act” to clarify that the so-called Berry Amendment applies to footwear.

If Michaud's bill passes to ensure that the Berry Amendment includes shoes, New Balance could certainly gain some business. Its a shame that all but a small portion New Balance's production along with every other athletic shoe sold today are manufactured over seas, mostly in China or other eastern rim nations.

Big Money in Plastic Shoes

Tags: Crocs
According to the Motley Fool, Crocs is about to report revenues in excess of a BILLION dollars. Just a few years ago the maker of injection molded plastic shoes was in a world of hurt but they have turned things around.

Crocs is no longer simply about those plastic shoes. They have several lines of "real" shoes for men, women and children. They even partnered with Hank Haney on golf shoes that were recognized as one of the best new products at the PGA Merchandise show. From golf shoes to socks, these licensing deals are making money for the firm. They seem to be following in the footsteps of Nike and branching out far beyond their initial core product.

Michael only has 5 fingers, duh

Tags: Nike
The Washington Post has the story of some clueless counterfeiters. The two women were nabbed in Georgia while traveling with 78 pairs of shoes.

What tipped the police off that they might not be authentic? Michael Jordan's hand had six fingers in the logo on the shoes. So they looked a little closer and discovered that the serial numbers under the tongue didn't match the numbers on the box.

If you are purchasing a pair of Nike Jordans, be sure to at least make sure that Michael has five and not six fingers.

Shoe lovers and connoisseurs from all of the world are now quite envious of actress Blake Lively. Back in 2010 Lively had her fashion dreams come true when Christian Louboutin named a pair of high heels after her. Since then Lively and Louboutin have become close, close enough at least for Louboutin to send her a gift right out of the dreams of shoe lovers -- his entire 2012 line.

Yes, how would you like to accept that delivery? All of his wonderful shoes for the year delivered to your door. Lively told People.com,

My gosh, (the spring collection) was sent to my house, and they're so beautiful. They're amazing. They are the most beautiful shoes out there. And incredibly innovative.

Christian Louboutin's Transparent Bow Bow

Tags: Heels
Shoes are not simply things to keep our feet protected and our toes warm on cold days. Our shoes express who we are and who we want to be. That's why many women will judge the men they meet by first looking at his shoes. Are they old and dirty or clean and shined?

What is on our feet can tells the people we meets lots about us. Many men don't understand the importance of their shoes to how they project themselves to the world. Women know better and women who love shoes love Christian Louboutin's designs.

Tortured for Fashion

Tags: High Heels
New York's fashion week began yesterday and continues through the 16th. Naturally it couldn't simply be "fashion week" it has to be "Mercedes Benz Fashion Week." It will be interesting to see some of the new designs and what the top designers believe we should be wearing.

One thing you can count on is the women being in heels for the week. There is something magical and sexy about the way heels show off a woman's legs. But sexy and fashionable come with a price and for many women, that price is pain.

Certainly some women actually feel more comfortable in heels than they do in flats, but I bet its not many. Why do we insist on slipping our feet into shoes in which it is hard to walk, forget about running and that cause many of us nothing but pain? The look, there is just no way to get that sexy look in a pair of flats. It simply has to be heels.

Don't Get Between Me and My Shoes!

Tags: Nike
Going to the mall can be bad for your health, especially if you come between certain people and their newly released shoes. There were at least two incidents following the release of the new Nike Foamposite shoes, one in upstate New York and another in Maryland. It seems that some people really wanted to get their mitts on these $225 shoes.

In Maryland, Sheriff Douglas Mullendore told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown the release of the new shoe drew shoppers from as far away as Washington, over 70 miles away. Mullendore also that they ended up locking the mall down and escorting a few people at a time into the store to buy the shoes.

Split Toed Shoes?

Tags: Running, Vibram
Split toed shoes are gaining in popularity and not just with athletes. Running shoes like the Vibran Fivefingers pictured here may look a bit strange but many seasoned athletes swear by them. I've not slipped a pair onto my feet but they look comfortable and having your toes articulated like the way God made them has to be good for keeping balanced.

Runners love the feeling of running barefoot while still having their feet protected, but now even the Hollywood gliterati like Scarlett Johansson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Hudson are wearing them while out and about town. What do you think? Would you slip into a pair of Vibrams and then go off to the mall for a bit of shopping?

To the dismay of many fashion critics, actress Shailene Woodley attended a 2012 Golden Globes after-party while wearing a pair split toe shoes right on the red carpet. The nerve of some people.
